How It Started
The idea for the By the Sea Bulletin began when my uncle, a longtime advertiser, learned that the publication he had relied on for life of his business would no longer be produced. Faced with the question of how local businesses would continue reaching the community, he turned to me and asked, “What are we going to do?”
Since he owned a print shop, the answer quickly became clear: we could create our own publication.
On August 5, 2024—coincidentally my mother’s birthday—the first issue of the By the Sea Bulletin was published. It was a simple, single-page sheet folded in half, featuring tide information, a few local advertisements, and several spaces labeled “Your Ad Here.” What started as a small idea has since grown into a dedicated effort to support and promote local businesses in our community. - By the Sea Bulletin - Connecting our Community. Where to find the Bulletin?
Our Process
From advertisement design to printing, folding, and distribution, every step of the process is handled in-house at Baltimore Centre Mail & Ship in Bandon, Oregon.
Each week, we print 1,500 copies of the Bulletin and distribute them to more than 40 local businesses throughout the community, with additional pickup locations at Langlois

Each week, we print 1,500 copies of the Bulletin and distribute them to more than 40 local businesses throughout the community, with additional pickup locations at Langlois Market and Ray’s Food Place in Port Orford.
We do not require a minimum or maximum character count for advertisements, giving you the flexibility to communicate your message however you choose. All advertisements include a border at no additional cost.
If you prefer not to design your own ad, simply tell us what you would like included, and our team will be happy to create a professional advertisement for you.
